Friskies Recruits College Mascots to Turn Football Points Into Pet Meals

Six university cat mascots have joined the Friskies roster this fall, turning every opening score of their respective football games into a charitable donation. The brand’s new campaign promises up to 500,000 meals for shelter cats, linking the high-stakes intensity of college athletics directly to local animal welfare support.

The lineup features iconic feline representatives from five major institutions: Wilbur and Wilma Wildcat from the University of Arizona, Truman the Tiger from Missouri, Will D. Cat from Villanova, Cosmo the Cougar from BYU, and Aubie the Tiger from Auburn. Under the banner of the Certified Frisky campaign, each team’s first score during regular-season games will trigger a 10,000-meal contribution to Greater Good Charities.

Jason Dolan, brand director at Friskies, noted that the partnership leverages the existing popularity of these mascots to drive social impact. This initiative expands on a successful 2026 pilot program with the University of Arizona, which converted postseason basketball points into food donations. By partnering with multimedia rights holders like Playfly Sports and Learfield, the brand aims to integrate its charitable goal into the broader culture of college game days across the country.
