Running from October 19 to 23, 2026, the summit operates under the theme "Accelerating Clean Energy Innovation: From Africa to the World." The agenda shifts focus toward energy access and the technological pathways required for climate goals, bridging the gap between G20 research institutions and regional African challenges.
The technical program opens with an exploration of artificial intelligence in the energy sector, followed by plenary sessions centered on hydrogen, smart grids, and synthetic fuels. A dedicated public session on October 21 will address the role of critical minerals in energy production. Experts from South Africa’s Department of Science, Technology and Innovation, France’s CEA, and Germany’s Fraunhofer ISE are slated to lead discussions. While site visits conclude the event, organizers have opened public sessions to a global audience through a hybrid online format.
