The integration of these three companies aims to address the escalating demands for bandwidth, low latency, and observability in AI and high-performance computing environments. Each new member brings a specific technical focus: Lenovo is prioritizing automation and AI-driven operations through components like BGP EVPN and RoCE; NADDOD is contributing its experience with switch portfolios and hardware interoperability; and NEXAI is actively porting the SONiC operating system to its high-performance silicon products.
Arpit Joshipura, general manager of networking, edge, and IoT at the Linux Foundation, noted that these additions bridge critical gaps in the networking stack. By contributing real-world deployment data and engineering enhancements, the new members are expected to accelerate SONiC's evolution as a vendor-neutral standard. The community will showcase these developments during the OCP Global Summit 2026 in San Jose, which includes a dedicated workshop on October 14 and an extended session hosted by Nokia on October 16.
