SAP pivots to autonomous enterprise with new AI agent ecosystem

At its SAP Connect conference in Las Vegas, SAP SE unveiled a suite of autonomous AI tools designed to automate complex business workflows. By integrating Joule Work and new specialized agents into its core software, the company aims to shift enterprise operations from reactive data management to predictive, agent-led execution.

The rollout centers on Joule Work, an AI-driven interface that allows employees to interact with SAP systems using natural language. SAP reports that internal deployment across its 110,000-strong workforce has already yielded 20% productivity gains in finance, procurement, and HR. The platform leverages the SAP Knowledge Graph—which maps over 7 million data fields—to ensure that automated decisions remain grounded in verified business context.

Beyond simple queries, SAP is introducing specialized assistants capable of executing tasks within existing workflows. For instance, the International Trade Assistant has demonstrated a 50% reduction in classification effort, while new billing and sourcing tools aim to eliminate manual bottlenecks. To ensure these systems remain secure, the company is utilizing ISO/IEC 42001-certified governance and an open Agent2Agent protocol, allowing SAP’s AI to coordinate with third-party software. Major corporate partners, including Nestlé, Novartis, and PwC, are already integrating these tools to enhance visibility across their global operations.
