Benekiva Launches Kiva AI to Streamline Insurance Claims Processing

Des Moines-based Benekiva has unveiled Kiva, an AI-powered assistant integrated directly into its Claims Workbench to support examiners. By surfacing missing documentation and prioritizing tasks, the tool aims to reduce administrative burden while ensuring human professionals retain final decision-making authority over every insurance case.

The platform functions as a digital co-pilot rather than an automated adjudicator. It embeds guidance into the existing workflow, flagging incomplete files and highlighting immediate priorities. This approach addresses the complexity of modern claims management, where professionals must balance high volumes of documentation with regulatory requirements and policyholder needs.

"We built Kiva to provide another set of eyes within the workflow to help someone recognize a missing requirement," said Krista Eger, Vice President of Product at Benekiva. The company emphasizes that the technology is intended to remove repetitive, manual tasks from the examiner’s plate. Founder and CEO Brent Williams noted that the goal is not to replace human intervention, but to allow staff to focus their attention on the critical decisions that require empathy and expertise. Benekiva, which claims to help carriers reduce cycle times by up to 84%, positions this addition as a way to scale care without sacrificing the human element of insurance.
