Papa Murphy’s Expands Co-Brand Strategy with Pinkberry Integration

Papa Murphy's has finalized three franchise agreements to integrate Pinkberry frozen yogurt into its Take 'n' Bake pizza stores. This strategic shift aims to diversify revenue streams and stabilize seasonal demand, allowing franchisees to share real estate and labor costs while offering both dinner and dessert options under one roof.

The expansion spans several states, with new locations slated for Oregon, New Mexico, and Utah. Joshua and Samantha Kimzey are set to debut the dual-brand model in Sunriver, Oregon, this November. In Santa Fe, long-term operator John Perea will incorporate Pinkberry into his existing restaurant, while franchisee Casey Kauer plans a summer 2027 opening in West Haven, Utah.

Ray Zandi, vice president of U.S. development at MTY Food Group, noted that the pairing addresses seasonal fluctuations inherent in the food service industry. By combining a savory pizza business with a dessert concept, owners can better balance labor needs and operational cycles throughout the year. For franchisees like Perea, the model provides a sustainable path for year-round growth, enabling a single storefront to function as a destination for families regardless of the season.
