The curriculum targets apprentices, journey workers, and technical education graduates, offering a structured pathway into leadership roles. By integrating hands-on trade expertise with formal coursework in safety and technology, the program aims to address the regional shortage of project managers and estimators. Students can earn certificates in construction management, safety, and technology, which serve as milestones toward the full degree.
SRU President Karen Riley emphasized that the partnership rejects the traditional dichotomy between trade schools and universities. Instead, the initiative focuses on a continuum of learning designed for adults balancing professional demands with academic advancement. The program combines online flexibility with in-person instruction to ensure accessibility for working professionals. An initial information session is scheduled for October 12 at 7 p.m. via Zoom.
