reThought Flood Taps Vertafore Platform to Scale Private Coverage

With thousands of residential properties recently reclassified into high-risk flood zones by FEMA, managing agency access to specialized insurance has become a priority. reThought Flood is now integrating with Vertafore’s PL Rating system, aiming to place its private coverage directly in front of 10,000 independent agents.

The partnership connects reThought Flood to a distribution network that processed 6.8 million flood transactions in 2025. By embedding its products into the PL Rating software, the MGA seeks to simplify the quoting process, allowing agents to evaluate flood risks alongside standard personal lines during existing workflows. This approach aims to eliminate the friction that often keeps specialized flood insurance as a separate, time-consuming task for retail brokers.

Kevin Thoms, director at reThought Flood, noted that the firm evaluated multiple comparative rating tools before selecting Vertafore, citing the platform's established connectivity as the industry standard. For Vertafore, the move aligns with its broader goal of supporting MGAs through digital infrastructure that spans underwriting and policy management. As flood risk awareness grows among property owners, the integration positions reThought Flood to capture demand by meeting agents within the digital environment where they already conduct daily business.
