Investors File Class Action Against Ryde Group Following Stock Collapse

A securities class action lawsuit has been filed against Ryde Group Ltd, targeting the period between March 6 and September 11, 2024. The litigation follows a dramatic market collapse that saw the stock plummet 75% in a single session, wiping out approximately $900 million in market capitalization.

The complaint, filed in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, centers on allegations that Ryde Group failed to disclose significant risks associated with its market structure and public float. Shareholders claim the company omitted warnings regarding potential market manipulation, even as the stock price climbed over 500% from its initial $4.00 offering price without corresponding corporate developments.

Legal counsel Joseph E. Levi noted that the company remained silent while irregular trading patterns emerged, culminating in a September 11, 2024, crash where the stock fell from $22.49 to $5.50 in less than an hour. The lawsuit alleges that this volatility was fueled by coordinated social media promotion and wash trading, activities that allegedly exploited the company’s concentrated insider control. Investors who purchased shares during the class period have until November 9, 2026, to seek lead plaintiff status as the firm evaluates potential recovery for those affected by the losses, which currently exceed 95% from the period's peak.
