This competitive selection marks a significant move for the firm, which will transition its prototype into flight testing by fiscal year 2027. The project leverages the company’s proprietary Pike platform—a long-range strike system that utilizes rocket-assisted launch technology before switching to sustained jet flight. With a design range of up to 1,000 miles, the platform focuses on rapid production and distributed operations that bypass the need for traditional runways.
CEO Ethan Thornton emphasized that the firm’s in-house manufacturing of propulsion, energetics, and airframes allows for a leaner development cycle compared to traditional defense manufacturing. By integrating these components internally, Mach Industries aims to meet the Army's demand for high-volume, rapidly deployable strike weapons. The company, which specializes in hardware-first, vertically integrated defense solutions, plans to utilize this contract to demonstrate its capacity for scaling complex unmanned systems.
