At Booth 2060 during the American Academy of Ophthalmology annual meeting in New Orleans, Saffron will demonstrate a model designed to integrate with a practice’s existing EHR and management systems rather than replacing them. CEO Varun Khanna argues that healthcare technology has historically monetized complexity, forcing clinics to manage multiple vendors while staff manually bridge the gaps between disconnected platforms.
Instead of charging per-application fees, Saffron shifts the economic focus to a concierge partnership that combines robotic process automation (RPA) with human operational support. The ecosystem covers everything from surgery management and insurance authorizations to AI-assisted analytics. By incorporating Model Context Protocol servers, the platform allows administrators to query data across systems—such as identifying which upcoming cataract surgeries are missing clearances—to streamline decision-making. Saffron is positioning itself as a partner for both established clinics and physicians launching independent practices, emphasizing that the goal is to solve specific operational bottlenecks rather than simply selling more software.
