FlyUSA Opens 50,000-Square-Foot Tampa Aviation Hub

A new 50,000-square-foot hangar at Tampa International Airport signals a strategic shift for FlyUSA, which is moving to bypass industry-wide infrastructure bottlenecks. The facility, designed to house ultra-large jets like the Gulfstream G700, establishes a centralized base for the company’s maintenance operations and private owner services.

The facility accommodates up to 20 aircraft and features specialized tail doors built specifically for the dimensions of heavy jets, including the Bombardier Global 7500. By bringing 20 of its 30 regional aircraft under one roof, FlyUSA aims to solve a persistent capacity gap. CEO Barry Shevlin noted that existing airport infrastructure often fails to support the newest generation of long-range aircraft, forcing owners into limited, outdated hangar space.

Beyond technical capacity, the site introduces an owners-only lounge, marking a departure from shared fixed-base operator facilities. FlyUSA has opted for a self-sufficient operational model at this location, managing its own fueling and ground movements to insulate clients from peak-period congestion. The company plans to replicate this blueprint in Lakeland, Florida, by 2029, as part of a broader push to manage 100 aircraft and reach $500 million in annual revenue by 2032.
