The awards, presented during National Case Management Week, celebrate individuals who demonstrate superior judgment and adaptability in challenging medical scenarios. Winners were selected from both the Colleague Division—encompassing catastrophic, field, disability, and telephonic management—and the Customer Division, which includes partners like Continental Tires and First Student.
Recipients this year managed diverse and life-threatening cases, ranging from industrial accidents involving complex surgical interventions to long-term disability and psychological recovery. For instance, Sumer Khachab’s vigilance in identifying a femoral aneurysm proved life-saving, while Corrine Carter’s work in the new behavioral health category helped an employee overcome severe PTSD following an armed robbery. These cases illustrate a shift toward a whole-person approach, where managers coordinate specialized care while addressing the personal and professional hurdles that often accompany workplace injuries.
