Lincoln Educational Faces Class Action Suit Over Student Enrollment Data

A 24.9% single-day collapse in Lincoln Educational Services stock has triggered a securities class action lawsuit. Investors allege the company misled them regarding student enrollment growth, contradicting optimistic guidance issued just months before the firm revealed a sharp, unexpected deceleration in its critical performance metrics during the second quarter.

The legal action, spearheaded by Hagens Berman, targets the period between May 11 and August 9, 2026. Trouble began in May, when management touted a 19.5% increase in student starts, prompting them to raise full-year growth projections. Shares surged 10.6% on that optimism, fueled by executive commentary regarding strong, sustained demand across their business operations.

That narrative unraveled on August 10, 2026. When Lincoln Educational released its Q2 results, enrollment growth had plummeted to 1%. The sudden shift—which wiped out $300 million in market capitalization overnight—left investors grappling with a disconnect between the company’s earlier growth claims and the reality of their quarterly performance. Reed Kathrein, the Hagens Berman partner leading the investigation, stated the firm is examining whether management intentionally misled shareholders about these specific metrics. Investors seeking to participate in the suit face a November 10, 2026, deadline to file for lead plaintiff status.
