The proposed acquisition follows a multi-year turnaround for the Paris-based company, which currently manages a fleet with a gross book value of approximately €3 billion. Under the stewardship of its current majority owners, Fraikin has bolstered its financial resilience and scaled its reach across ten European countries, serving vital sectors ranging from food distribution to public utilities.
Asterion plans to leverage this footprint to accelerate three core objectives: upgrading the existing fleet, digitizing management services, and spearheading the transition toward lower-carbon mobility. Bice Di Gregorio, a partner at the investment firm, noted that the deal aligns with their strategy of investing in essential infrastructure. Sergio Val, an operating partner at Asterion, emphasized that the firm intends to combine its industrial approach with Fraikin's eight decades of operational expertise to drive growth in the French and wider European markets.
The deal remains subject to standard regulatory approvals and mandatory employee consultation processes. Financial advisory services for the exit were provided by BofA Securities and Lazard, with Latham & Watkins serving as legal counsel.
