The appointment follows the September merger of Nexar and Nauto, which rebranded as Empiric Earth to focus on mapping and measuring the physical world. Vescio, who previously led global business development across Uber Rides and Uber Eats before advising startups through Awestruck Ventures, is tasked with scaling the company's footprint in the burgeoning Physical AI sector.

CEO Zach Greenberger highlighted Vescio’s experience in navigating the transition from breakthrough technology to sustainable business, noting their history as professional counterparts during their time at Uber and Lyft. Vescio emphasized that her primary focus will be establishing trust and safety within the ecosystem, leveraging the company’s extensive database of over 10 billion miles of driving history. Empiric Earth currently captures data across 98% of U.S. roads, positioning itself as an independent ground truth for automakers, insurers, and public agencies.
