Fibocom Expands 5G-A Capabilities with U6G-Ready FG390 Module

At NetworkX 2026, Fibocom unveiled an upgraded version of its FG390 module, designed to harness the Upper 6GHz (U6G) spectrum. By leveraging the MediaTek T930 platform, the new variant enables cross-band carrier aggregation, pushing 5G-Advanced Fixed Wireless Access toward the 10-gigabit threshold for home and enterprise broadband.

The FG390-MEA-30 module integrates support for the NR n104 band, allowing the 6425–7125MHz spectrum to operate in tandem with established Sub-6GHz frequencies. This combination, featuring configurations like CA_n41A-n104A and CA_n78A-n104A, aims to boost network capacity while maintaining stable coverage. With 700MHz of additional bandwidth, the hardware is positioned to support high-demand applications including 8K streaming, cloud gaming, and AR/VR environments.

Commercial momentum for U6G is already building globally. Projects range from e& UAE’s recent network deployment to successful 10Gbps downlink trials by Zhejiang Mobile. Additional field validations are currently underway across Europe, Latin America, and Central Asia. For device manufacturers, the module’s architecture is intended to streamline the development of customer premises equipment (CPEs), outdoor units, and enterprise gateways.

MediaTek’s General Manager of Wireless Communications, Evan Su, noted that the collaboration aims to accelerate 5G-Advanced innovation by extending U6G capabilities within the T930 platform. Sunzhi Liu, General Manager of Fibocom’s MBB Business Unit, added that the focus remains on providing a flexible path for operators to translate new spectrum capabilities into deployable products for the next generation of wireless connectivity.
