Author Xuemo Bridges Cultures with Global Literary Honors

At a ceremony in Hollywood, Chinese writer Xuemo became the first author from his country to receive the 2026 Author of the Year Global Bridge Award. The accolade recognizes his success in translating the spiritual landscape and folk traditions of western China for a diverse, international readership spanning over 20 languages.

The International Impact Book Awards committee lauded Xuemo for his ability to transport readers into remote villages of Gansu, noting that few authors successfully bridge such vast cultural divides. His novel Into the Desert, translated by Howard Goldblatt, served as a focal point for the committee’s praise regarding his narrative impact.

Simultaneously, his work Eternal Love secured a 2026 NYC Big Book Award. The novel, which explores themes of personal transformation and self-love, climbed to the top of Amazon’s psychological literary fiction bestseller chart. Ted Olczak, president of the NYC Big Book Award, described the prose as a raw examination of human resilience. Through these recent achievements, Xuemo continues to expand the global footprint of contemporary Chinese literature, focusing on the intersection of ancient heritage and modern emotional experience.
