CAE Sheds Flightscape Software Unit in $500 Million SITA Deal

The Canadian flight simulation giant CAE has agreed to divest its Flightscape airline operations software business to SITA, a move valued at $500 million. This transaction allows CAE to pivot resources toward its core defense and civil training markets while handing off a platform used by more than 90 global carriers.

CAE Sheds Flightscape Software Unit in $500 Million SITA Deal

Flightscape provides essential tools for flight planning, crew scheduling, and ground operations coordination. Under the terms of the agreement, the business will maintain its current operations until the deal closes in the first half of next year, pending standard regulatory approvals. CAE plans to funnel the proceeds into its primary training infrastructure and capital returns for shareholders.

For the Swiss-based SITA, this acquisition marks a continued expansion of its digital portfolio. The company has aggressively pursued specialized aviation technology, having previously integrated Safety Line’s fuel-efficiency tools and Big Blue Analytics’ artificial intelligence software. SITA executives noted the integration of Flightscape is intended to sharpen operational decision-making and streamline recovery processes for airline customers.
