Symrise Shares Slide as Pet Food Growth Stalls

An 8.9% drop in share price greeted Symrise on Wednesday after the German ingredients giant posted quarterly sales of 1.31 billion euros. While the company achieved 5.3% organic growth, the figure failed to satisfy investor expectations, which had climbed significantly higher than the consensus estimates tracked by analysts.

Symrise Shares Slide as Pet Food Growth Stalls

The stock retreated to 91.20 euros in morning trading as the market reacted to underlying weaknesses despite the company’s stated momentum. Bernstein analysts pointed to the pet food division as a primary drag on sentiment; the segment, previously a reliable engine for the company’s valuation, showed softer performance that weighed on the overall taste, nutrition, and health results.

Looking toward the end of the year, Symrise expects organic sales growth to moderate as it faces a challenging comparative base from the previous period. For 2026, the company projects growth near the midpoint of its 2% to 4% guidance. Profitability remains under pressure as well, with the adjusted Ebitda margin expected to land in the lower half of its 21.5% to 22.5% target range.
