Rheinmetall Trims Outlook Amid Procurement Hurdles

Procurement delays on Boxer combat vehicles and artillery ammunition contracts have forced Rheinmetall to slash its financial guidance for the second time this year. The German defense giant now anticipates 2026 annual sales of approximately 13.2 billion euros, falling short of its previous target range of 13.7 billion to 14.2 billion euros.

The company also adjusted its operating margin expectations, projecting a figure of about 18.5% compared to the earlier forecast of 19%. This latest revision follows a similar move in August, when Rheinmetall lowered its sales outlook after the German government canceled a major warship procurement project.

Financial results for the third quarter show a mixed performance. While sales climbed to 3.15 billion euros from 2.31 billion euros in the same period last year, the figure missed the 3.25 billion euro consensus estimate tracked by Vara Research. Conversely, operating profit outperformed expectations at 553 million euros, yielding an operating margin of 17.5% against analyst projections of 16.3%.
