Shift4 now expects full-year adjusted earnings of $5.05 to $5.15 a share, compared with its previous range of $5.15 to $5.35. It forecast gross revenue, less network fees, of $2.45 billion to $2.46 billion, down from $2.48 billion to $2.53 billion. Chief Executive Taylor Lauber said travel disruptions had become more pronounced in the fourth quarter and that same-store sales were weaker. “We are growing despite them,” he said, adding that he believes the headwinds “will abate in the times ahead.” Shift4 had already cut its guidance in August, citing continued travel disruptions linked to conflict in the Middle East.
For the third quarter, Shift4 reported net income of $38 million, or 37 cents a share, compared with $28 million, or 17 cents, a year earlier. Adjusted earnings were $1.49 a share, ahead of analysts’ $1.36 estimate. Gross revenue, less network fees, rose to $648 million from $589 million, but fell short of the $652.4 million analysts expected.
