Generac Expands Manufacturing Footprint in Illinois

Shares of Generac surged 4.6% to $274.35 in Monday’s premarket trading after the company announced the acquisition of a new facility in Belvidere, Illinois. The expansion targets the growing demand for large-megawatt generators, specifically for mission-critical industries and data centers that require constant, reliable backup power.

Generac Expands Manufacturing Footprint in Illinois

The company declined to disclose the financial terms of the purchase, characterizing the move as a strategic push to scale its commercial and industrial operations. By integrating the Belvidere site, Generac intends to bolster the capabilities gained through its acquisition of Enercon Engineering, focusing primarily on enclosure assembly and final unit packaging. The site’s proximity to major interstate infrastructure is intended to streamline the logistics of transporting heavy power equipment across the country.

Erik Wilde, president of the company’s domestic commercial and industrial division, noted that the facility is vital for meeting the intensifying market need for high-capacity power solutions. The plant is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2027 and is expected to create more than 100 jobs. This latest capital investment follows a year of significant market performance for the firm, with shares having more than doubled in value over the last twelve months.
