Stephen Hoge will now steer a unified command covering research, manufacturing, and commercial operations. This centralization aims to synchronize the firm’s transition into a diversified, multi-modality biotech house. The strategic realignment comes as the company prepares a pipeline targeting flu, norovirus, and combination respiratory vaccines, with projected market entries slated for 2027 and 2028. Beyond infectious diseases, the firm is eyeing initial regulatory approvals in oncology and rare disease sectors.
To manage this commercial pivot, Moderna has tapped industry veteran Ester Banque as its new chief commercial officer. Banque brings deep pharmaceutical experience to the role, having previously led U.S. operations at Zoetis and overseen hematology and cell therapy businesses for Bristol Myers Squibb. Her background also includes an extensive tenure in leadership positions at Novartis, marking a significant addition to the company's executive bench as it scales its global footprint.
