Marconi Technologies to supply Orion X650 tactical radios to Poland

Polish military forces are set to integrate the Orion X650 tactical radio system, a move designed to bolster secure, high-capacity communications across NATO's eastern flank. The multi-year contract, awarded to Montreal-based Marconi Technologies and local integrator Enamor International, arrives as Poland accelerates its defense modernization efforts through the EU’s SAFE instrument.

The Orion X650 functions as a sixth-generation software-defined radio engineered for high-throughput data transmission in contested environments. Featuring four RF ports, the hardware can operate as two independent channels or a single 4x4 MIMO configuration to improve signal resilience. Its deployment will provide a critical data backbone for 5G-enabled command and control nodes, allowing forward units to maintain broadband connectivity while resisting electronic warfare interference.

Following successful trials on drones, ground vehicles, and fixed sites, the equipment is slated for delivery later this year. Alain Cohen, CEO of Marconi Technologies, noted that the collaboration with Enamor International underscores a deepening industrial partnership between Canadian technology providers and Polish defense forces. This initiative remains a cornerstone of Poland’s long-term tactical communication strategy, with support programs extending through 2030.
