DSC Expands Indonesian Foam Production to Bolster Supply Chain

To insulate footwear brands from global supply chain volatility, DSC is upgrading its P.T. Dah Ju facility in Jawa Barat, Indonesia. The expansion integrates advanced foam chemistry and fabrication technology, positioning the site as a strategic hub for local-for-local manufacturing ahead of anticipated regional trade shifts.

The investment builds upon the infrastructure established at P.T. Dah Ju when it opened in 2023. By deepening localized technical expertise, DSC aims to shorten lead times and increase agility for Tier 1 manufacturing partners. This effort complements existing output from the company's P.T. Dah Sheng site in Tangerang Banten, which currently produces specialized materials like DREAMCELL sheet foam and DURAPONTEX.

Beyond physical fabrication, the expansion encompasses significant spending on engineering resources, rigorous testing protocols, and specialized training for local staff. COO Mei-Fen Wei noted that bringing innovation closer to the point of production is essential for navigating the rising complexity of modern footwear manufacturing. The move also anticipates potential regulatory changes, specifically the proposed Indonesia–European Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement expected in 2027. If finalized, this pact could lower tariffs on footwear-related goods, further cementing Indonesia's role as a critical link in the company's global strategy.
