Netlist Targets Samsung and Google in New AI Memory Patent Dispute

Netlist is escalating its legal campaign against Samsung, filing complaints with the U.S. International Trade Commission and the Eastern District of Texas. The Irvine-based company claims its latest patents, specifically those covering high-bandwidth memory and DDR5 technologies, are being infringed upon by Samsung’s current product lineup.

The legal action centers on U.S. Patent Nos. 12,646,537 and 12,650,937. Netlist alleges these inventions are foundational to AI computing, targeting Samsung’s HBM, RDIMM, and MRDIMM modules. Beyond Samsung, the company has named Google, Supermicro, Nvidia, and Broadcom as respondents in the ITC complaint. Netlist is seeking exclusion orders to block the import of products it claims violate its intellectual property rights.

CEO C.K. Hong stated that the enforcement measures are necessary to shield next-generation memory technology from unauthorized use. ITC proceedings typically move on an expedited track, often reaching a trial phase within one year. Netlist is currently represented in these matters by the law firms Sterne Kessler Goldstein & Fox and Irell & Manella.
