Continuous Composites Wins U.S. Army Contract for Missile Manufacturing

The U.S. Army DEVCOM Aviation and Missile Center has tapped Continuous Composites for a multi-year effort to overhaul how next-generation missile components are produced. Working through the ManTech program, the Idaho-based company aims to integrate its proprietary 3D printing technology into the Precision Strike Missile architecture to boost production speed.

Existing manufacturing methods for complex aerospace parts often struggle with scalability and repeatability, creating bottlenecks in delivery timelines. Continuous Composites plans to deploy its CF3D technology—a patented process that uses automated fiber steering—to create high-performance structures like nose cones, fins, and bulkheads. By moving away from traditional, constrained production techniques, the initiative seeks to improve yield and reinforce supply-chain resilience for precision strike systems.

CEO Steve Starner stated that the project addresses critical challenges in high-temperature material application. The goal is to lower program risk while ensuring that advanced manufacturing capabilities transition to the warfighter with greater efficiency. This partnership, facilitated by America Makes, aligns with broader Department of Defense priorities to achieve cost-effective, scalable production for modern defense platforms.
