The initiative aims to extend the lifecycle of the iconic seating while reducing environmental waste. By utilizing original materials and manufacturing expertise, the company seeks to offer a high-performance alternative to unauthorized resellers. Each chair undergoes a rigorous four-stage process, including deep cleaning, component replacement, and a final calibration to ensure every adjustment meets original factory specifications.
"When we talk sustainability, it's not just how a product is made—it's how long it performs," said Gabe Wing, Vice President of Sustainability at MillerKnoll. The program is an expansion of the company’s existing rePurpose effort, which has diverted over 23 million pounds of furniture from landfills since 2009. This strategy reflects a shift in retail approach, targeting customers who prioritize both design longevity and circular consumption.
