Zakay Law Group Files Class Action Against Devonshire Care Center

Employees at Riverside-based Devonshire Care Center are alleging systemic labor law violations in a new class action complaint filed in Riverside County Superior Court. The lawsuit claims the facility consistently denied staff mandatory meal and rest breaks while failing to compensate them for time worked off the clock.

The complaint, filed by Zakay Law Group, APLC, asserts that Devonshire Care Center violated multiple sections of the California Labor Code. The allegations center on a failure to pay minimum and overtime wages, alongside a lack of accurate itemized wage statements and a refusal to reimburse employees for necessary business expenses. According to the filing, the facility required staff to work before and after their scheduled shifts, as well as during designated off-duty breaks.

Under state law, "hours worked" encompasses any time an employee remains under the employer's control. The plaintiffs contend that Devonshire Care Center benefited from this labor without providing the required compensation, effectively denying workers their legal earnings. The case, identified as CVRI2603333, remains pending as the firm seeks to represent the affected workforce in these wage and hour disputes.
