The Luxury Watches AI Visibility Index 2026 evaluated 25 top brands across five major AI engines, including ChatGPT, Claude, and Google AI Overviews. While there are roughly 450 Swiss watch manufacturers, the data shows that AI models funnel consumer interest toward a tiny fraction of the market. Omega follows Rolex in general citations with 11%, but the broader landscape remains starkly concentrated, with just 25 brands capturing 90% of total industry sales.
AI engines do not democratize brand discovery; they amplify historical consensus. Because Rolex has dominated editorial coverage for decades, the models treat it as the default answer for general queries. Visibility only fragments when users apply specific qualifiers. Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet capture the high-end investment narrative, while Tudor and Grand Seiko dominate the conversation around value. According to 5W founder Ronn Torossian, brands must now secure a specific niche or 'qualifier' to remain visible, as general queries will almost inevitably default to the industry's established giants.
