NCCER Data Breach Compromises Personal Records

The National Center for Construction Education and Research, based in Baton Rouge, confirmed that a cyberattack led to the unauthorized acquisition of sensitive personal data. While the breach occurred in March 2025, the organization finalized its investigation into the scope of the exposure only this past April.

The incident forced NCCER to take its internal systems offline for an extended period while collaborating with cybersecurity specialists to remediate the network intrusion. Investigators ultimately determined that files containing Social Security numbers, driver’s license details, and login credentials were removed from their servers without authorization. Although the organization completed its comprehensive data review on April 12, 2026, it maintains that there is currently no evidence of fraud or identity theft linked to the stolen information.

Beginning in late April 2026, NCCER initiated a rolling notification process to alert affected individuals. Louisiana residents received specific notices via U.S. mail throughout May. For those whose Social Security numbers were identified in the compromised files, the organization is providing complimentary credit monitoring and identity protection services. Media inquiries regarding the incident are being directed to Daniel Marvin, Ashley Pusey, and Helen Tang.
