e-STORAGE to Supply 426 MWh Battery System for Florida Utility

Florida’s rapidly expanding energy storage market will soon host a 95 MW, 426 MWh battery installation, as Canadian Solar’s subsidiary, e-STORAGE, secures a supply agreement with a local utility provider. The project aims to bolster grid reliability by managing peak demand, with commercial operations slated for early 2028.

The installation will utilize e-STORAGE’s proprietary SolBank 3.0 battery packs, which rely on lithium-ion phosphate cells manufactured directly by Canadian Solar. By controlling the production chain, the company intends to offer the utility improved supply chain visibility and regulatory compliance. The project involves an integrated suite of hardware, including power conversion and energy management systems.

Jeff Roy, President of e-STORAGE, identified Florida as a critical growth market for the firm, noting that the state’s seasonal peak energy demands require robust, large-scale storage solutions. This contract marks the company’s first major entry into the Florida utility space, following a period where the business has shipped over 20 GWh of storage solutions globally. The site is expected to begin construction in the second half of 2027, serving as a strategic move to address the state's rising energy costs and grid management challenges.
