Under the agreement, Firefly will oversee the end-to-end design, construction, and testing of the spacecraft, utilizing its Blue Ghost lunar lander platform to execute the flight. The company expects the project to reach the launch pad in approximately two years.

Chief Executive Jason Kim stated the award validates the viability of rapid, repeatable commercial space delivery. He added that the mission serves as a critical bridge for NASA’s Artemis program and the broader goal of establishing a permanent lunar base, moving beyond exploratory visits toward sustained operations on the Moon.
