The academy’s foundation rests on Bascaro’s own trajectory, which began in 1987 as a pizza delivery driver at a Domino’s in Dallas. Over 35 years, she transitioned through every rung of the corporate ladder, eventually overseeing 300 locations as a brand president. This experience informs the AFA’s core philosophy: while franchisors provide operational blueprints, they often stop short of teaching the financial and leadership skills necessary for long-term growth.

To address these gaps, the AFA offers a tiered curriculum—MANAGE, LEAD, and COMMAND—designed for everyone from single-unit managers to multi-unit owners. To date, the academy has certified over 700 professionals across major brands including McDonald’s, Subway, and Dunkin’. Beyond classroom training, Bascaro has extended her reach through three bestselling books and a YouTube-based podcast that draws 19,000 subscribers.

As the organization enters its second decade, the focus is shifting toward global expansion. The AFA is currently developing multilingual programs and refining a partnership strategy that allows franchisors to integrate independent, structured business education directly into their existing networks. For Bascaro, the mission remains clear: equipping operators with the tools to master their own business destiny, regardless of the brand on the sign.
