Innoviz and Cogniteam Partner on AI-Driven Drone Detection Module

Innoviz Technologies and software provider Cogniteam have launched a joint counter-UAS perception module designed to improve drone detection and classification. By integrating high-resolution LiDAR data with AI-powered analytics, the system aims to reduce false alarms in critical infrastructure and border surveillance environments by distinguishing drones from birds and other objects.

The collaboration builds on a year of successful field testing using the ClearZone platform. The system leverages Innoviz’s automotive-grade sensors to provide precise 3D spatial data, which is then processed by Cogniteam’s machine learning algorithms. By analyzing object morphology and flight patterns, the module provides operators with reliable discrimination between genuine threats and harmless airborne activity.

Omer Keilaf, CEO of Innoviz, described the technology as the "eyes of the defense ecosystem," emphasizing that high-confidence 3D positioning allows existing security infrastructure to respond more effectively to aerial incursions. Dr. Yehuda Elmaliah, CEO of Cogniteam, noted that the combination of spatial sensing and advanced analytics achieves a level of classification reliability difficult to reach with standard sensors. The module is currently being positioned for adoption by defense contractors and system integrators, including the Drive Group subsidiary Barak555, to serve as a core perception layer in broader security architectures.
