Gold Rush in Tanzania: Lake Victoria Gold Mobilizes Construction Team

With gold prices holding above $4,100 per ounce, the race to transform African mining permits into operational output has intensified. Lake Victoria Gold Ltd. has signaled its entry into this transition, announcing the arrival of veteran project manager Charl Coetzee at the fully permitted Imwelo Gold Project in Tanzania.

Coetzee, an industry veteran with three decades of experience in commissioning and operating mineral-processing plants across the continent, is tasked with overseeing site readiness and infrastructure development. His arrival marks a shift from regulatory planning to physical execution at Imwelo, supported by the Tanzanian-led Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management framework. The project is advancing through key workstreams, including site clearing, access road upgrades, and the preparation of modular camps.

This mobilization occurs amid a broader industry trend where major producers and junior developers alike are being rewarded for converting assets into cash-flowing operations. While companies like Endeavour Mining and Perseus Mining reach production milestones across the region, Lake Victoria Gold is leveraging its strategic partnerships—including ties to Barrick and Taifa Mining—to advance its portfolio. As the sector prioritizes execution over mere resource ownership, the visible progress at Imwelo reflects the growing market demand for tangible, disciplined development in the Lake Victoria Goldfield.
