The hospital performed its first procedure using the upgraded technology on July 6, 2026. By utilizing radar reflectors rather than wires, surgeons can map tumor margins and localize multiple lesions with greater accuracy, including those detectable only through MRI scans. The shift is designed to provide patients with more scheduling flexibility and increased comfort compared to legacy methods.

James R. West, president and chief executive officer of PIH Health, noted that the adoption reflects a strategic investment in patient-centered innovation. Dr. Rashi Singh, a breast surgeon at the facility, emphasized that the platform simplifies the process for those undergoing breast-conserving surgery. Diagnostic radiologist Dr. Kimberly Bickell added that the system improves workflow efficiency for the medical team, allowing for more seamless coordination between radiology and surgery departments.
