The expansion introduces two distinct travel models: the Drake Express, which replaces the sea crossing with round-trip flights, and the Drake Fly & Sail, which combines a flight one way with a traditional sea voyage. By utilizing charter flights, guests reduce travel time to approximately two hours, providing more capacity for Zodiac safaris and guided landings led by the line's 17-member expedition team.
James A. Rodriguez, President and CEO of Atlas Ocean Voyages, noted that the offerings cater to travelers with limited vacation time who seek the efficiency of air travel without losing the immersive nature of a polar expedition. The voyages, which host fewer than 200 guests per sailing, include shore excursions and pre-voyage cultural programming in Punta Arenas. The season schedule features four Drake Express departures—November 28, December 5, 2027, and February 12 and 19, 2028—alongside two Fly & Sail options on November 19, 2027, and February 3, 2028.
