The FlexiCore Body Seal replaces conventional rubber seals that rely on heavy metal carriers. By shifting to a 100% thermoplastic design, the technology reduces component weight by up to 44% without sacrificing durability or performance. Beyond weight savings, the product is fully recyclable and streamlines assembly processes, offering manufacturers both environmental and operational advantages.

Patrick Clark, president of sealing systems at Cooper Standard, noted that the award reflects the company’s deepening footprint in the Chinese market. This accolade follows a string of industry honors for the technology, including a 2026 Environment+Energy Leader Award and a 2024 SPE Automotive Innovation Award. Having officially entered production with a global automaker earlier this year, the material is now moving from development into widespread commercial application.
