Tsakos, a veteran showmaker known for integrating immersive design with technology, will partner with the MIT Space Exploration Initiative to capture the production during specialized aircraft maneuvers. Over the coming year, she intends to translate these sequences into both a film and an installation. This project serves as the flagship work for Space Wonders, a company she established to foster interest in science through performance art.
With two decades of experience spanning the Super Bowl, the United Nations, and the Tribeca Film Festival, Tsakos brings a technical background to the project. She has completed training at NASA’s Johnson Space Center and the MIT New Space Economy program. Jim O'Shaughnessy, founder of the investment firm OSV, noted that the fellowship aims to support creators who push theater into unconventional environments. Tsakos describes the initiative as the creation of a new industry: theatrical experiences designed for space, experienced on Earth.
