Riyadh Air Expands Fleet with New Boeing and Airbus Orders

At the Farnborough International Airshow, Saudi Arabia’s Riyadh Air signaled a significant scaling of its operations by committing to a fresh wave of wide-body jet acquisitions. The carrier is exercising options for additional Boeing 787 Dreamliners while simultaneously firming up its commitment to the Airbus A350-1000 platform to bolster its long-haul capabilities.

Riyadh Air Expands Fleet with New Boeing and Airbus Orders

The airline is exercising options for 28 Boeing 787 Dreamliner jets, a move that pushes its total firm order for the aircraft to 67 units. This expansion includes a previously undisclosed purchase of 11 wide-body planes, further cementing the relationship between the Saudi carrier and the American manufacturer. The order follows an initial deal struck in 2023, reflecting a swift execution of the airline's growth strategy.

On the European front, Riyadh Air added six A350-1000 aircraft to its manifest. This agreement stems from a broader commitment announced in 2025 for up to 50 of the Airbus wide-body jets, bringing the airline's total order for this specific model to 31. Despite the scale of these fleet additions, the company declined to provide financial specifics regarding the value of either the Boeing or Airbus commitments.
