Rothera Adopts Eventus Validus Platform to Scale Surveillance

With volume hitting 3.5 billion contracts since its May launch, the CFTC-regulated exchange Rothera has integrated the Validus platform to bolster its oversight capabilities. The partnership, announced July 28, aims to provide the necessary scalability for the exchange's rapidly expanding event contract marketplace and high-frequency trading environment.

Rothera, a joint venture between Robinhood and Susquehanna International Group, secured regulatory approval earlier this year to operate as a Designated Contract Market and Derivatives Clearing Organization. To maintain market integrity, the firm selected Eventus for its customizable interface and algorithmic monitoring tools. According to Chief Compliance and Regulatory Officer Kevin Dan, the platform provides the infrastructure required to manage both fully collateralized and margined products.

Beyond standard surveillance, Rothera is incorporating Frank AI, an artificial intelligence solution designed to integrate coding and automated algorithms into the exchange's compliance workflow. President Matt Trudeau noted that the selection of the platform was driven by the need to handle thousands of event contracts while adhering to an aggressive implementation timeline. Eventus CEO Cameron Routh stated that the deployment reflects a shared focus on regulatory readiness as the exchange continues its growth trajectory.
