GVTC Enters Mobile Market with Texas Hill Country Launch

After decades as a fiber and security provider, New Braunfels-based GVTC Communications is expanding into mobile service. The move allows the member-owned cooperative to bundle cellular plans with its existing internet and home connectivity products, marking the company’s first venture into the wireless space across the Texas Hill Country.

The launch is powered by a strategic partnership with Reach, a platform that provides the underlying infrastructure, billing systems, and FCC compliance, allowing GVTC to maintain its own branding. GVTC President and CEO Josh Pettiette described the move as a natural extension of the company's relationship with its customers, prioritizing local support and transparent pricing over the transactional model common among national carriers.

For Reach, the collaboration highlights a broader trend of independent broadband providers seeking to capture mobile revenue. Reach founder Harjot Saluja noted that the partnership was driven by GVTC's deep-rooted presence in rural Texas markets, where the cooperative has operated since 1951. Users can now port existing numbers, choose between eSIM or physical SIM options, and manage their accounts through a dedicated GVTC app, integrating mobile connectivity into the provider's existing fiber-based ecosystem.
