Johnson Controls Raises Annual Guidance Following Strong Third Quarter

Shares of Johnson Controls climbed 5.9% to $148.49 in premarket trading after the industrial conglomerate reported quarterly earnings that surpassed analyst expectations. Sustained order momentum and margin expansion drove the company to lift its full-year organic sales growth forecast to 8% and project higher annual earnings per share.

The company reported net income of $749 million, or $1.23 a share, for the period ending June 30, marking an increase from the $701 million, or $1.07 a share, recorded a year earlier. Adjusted earnings reached $1.42 a share, comfortably beating the $1.30 consensus estimate from FactSet analysts. Total sales rose 9.3% to $6.61 billion, outperforming the $6.46 billion Wall Street projection.

Chief Executive Joakim Weidemanis cited the successful implementation of the company's proprietary business system as a primary driver for these results, noting improvements in productivity and execution. Looking ahead, Johnson Controls anticipates adjusted earnings of $1.55 a share for the current quarter, with organic sales growth projected between 9% and 10%.
