The W4 Mini operates across the 1460nm to 1620nm spectrum, supporting precise measurements of strain, temperature, pressure, tilt, and displacement. By allowing engineers to integrate a high volume of sensors onto a single fiber, the unit addresses the specific constraints of civil engineering, energy, and medical applications where physical space and power availability are limited.
Technica Optical Components CEO Andrei Csipkes noted that the hardware represents a push to expand optical sensing into more complex, remote environments. The device utilizes a solid-state architecture designed to maintain high performance metrics while minimizing the footprint. It integrates directly into the existing Femto Sensing software ecosystem and is currently available for global deployment.
