Bulk Internet and Property-Wide Wi-Fi Converge in Multifamily Housing

Nearly 60% of multifamily communities that offer bulk internet services now provide property-wide Wi-Fi, according to new data from Parks Associates. This shift signals a move toward bundled connectivity as a foundational strategy for modern apartment and condominium living, with adoption rates rising alongside demand for managed digital infrastructure.

Research indicates that 31% of multifamily residents currently have access to property-wide Wi-Fi, a marginal increase from 30% in the second quarter of 2024. The availability of these networks remains most prevalent in mid-rise buildings and larger residential complexes, where high-density connectivity is increasingly viewed as a standard utility rather than a luxury amenity.

Kristen Hanich, Senior Research Director at Parks Associates, notes that property owners are prioritizing managed connectivity to streamline operational efficiencies and support the integration of smart building technologies. This trend will serve as a primary focus at the upcoming Smart Spaces conference, scheduled for September 15-16 at the Hilton Dallas/Plano Granite Park in Texas. The event is set to host industry leaders from firms including Greystar, RealPage, and Hotwire Communications to examine how integrated platforms impact both property revenue and the resident experience.
