Driven by volatile energy markets and a sharp rise in refining margins, BP reported second-quarter underlying profits of $5.7 billion. The results, which more than doubled year-over-year, underscore a period of intense profitability for European energy majors. Beyond the gains in oil and gas realizations, the UK-based firm benefited from robust trading operations, a trend mirrored by peers including Shell, TotalEnergies, and Eni.
