Energenesis Biomedical and Taiwan Tanabe Seiyaku Partner on DFU Drug

A strategic collaboration between Energenesis Biomedical and Taiwan Tanabe Seiyaku aims to accelerate the development of ENERGI-F703DFU, a topical gel currently in Phase III clinical trials. The agreement focuses on process technology transfer and regulatory preparation for a potential new drug application in Taiwan.

The partnership leverages Energenesis' proprietary drug development platform alongside the established manufacturing and commercial infrastructure of Taiwan Tanabe, a subsidiary of the Osaka-based Tanabe Pharma Corporation. By aligning these resources, the companies intend to streamline the path to market for the treatment, which is designed to promote healing in diabetic foot ulcers by modulating cellular energy pathways.

Beyond initial registration efforts in Taiwan, the two firms are exploring future licensing arrangements for the drug within selected ASEAN markets. This move is part of a broader strategy for Energenesis to expand the reach of its lead candidate, which showed a 36.7% complete wound closure rate in post-hoc Phase II analysis compared to 9.1% for the control group. Enrollment for the ongoing Phase III trial is expected to conclude in 2027, marking a pivotal step toward commercial readiness for the small-molecule therapy.
