TC Energy Lifts Full-Year Outlook After Quarterly Profit Jump

TC Energy raised its full-year earnings guidance after third-quarter comparable EBITDA climbed to C$3 billion, beating analysts’ forecasts. Higher natural gas flows, stronger contract prices and increased output at Bruce Power helped lift results, while revenue also came in above expectations.

Net income for the quarter was C$1.03 billion, or C$0.98 a share, compared with C$609 million, or C$0.58 a share, a year earlier. Revenue rose 8.8% to C$4.03 billion, topping the C$3.98 billion analysts had forecast, according to FactSet. Comparable EBITDA increased from C$2.65 billion a year earlier and exceeded the C$2.86 billion analyst consensus.

The company now expects full-year comparable EBITDA of C$11.8 billion to C$12 billion. It had said in late July that it was aiming for the upper end of a C$11.6 billion-to-C$11.8 billion range. TC Energy maintained its target of keeping debt to EBITDA below 4.75 times.

Natural gas deliveries averaged 24.3 billion cubic feet a day in Canada, up about 6% from a year earlier. U.S. flows averaged 27 billion cubic feet a day, a 3% increase, while Mexico flows rose 8% to 3.7 billion cubic feet a day. TC Energy transports more than 30% of the natural gas used in North America and supplies LNG exports. Its power assets include Bruce Power, which provides roughly 30% of Ontario’s electricity.

Chief Executive Francois Poirier said the company had sanctioned about C$6 billion in growth projects year-to-date in 2026, with roughly C$6 billion pending approval and more than C$40 billion in additional anticipated opportunities. He said those investments are expected to support annual comparable EBITDA growth of 5% to 7% over five years through 2031. TC Energy projects North American natural gas demand will rise by about 51 billion cubic feet a day from 2025 to 2035, led by LNG exports and gas-fired power generation; it expects Canadian power demand to double by 2050.
